How to use this site

Welcome to Fantagraphy! This site allows you to graph players' performances in the Fantasy Premier League game, to help you make decisions about transfers and starting XI. Making a graph is easy -- from the default setup, you need only choose a player -- but below you'll find a complete description of all customisation options.

1. Select players

To select which players you'd like to see data on, begin typing their surname into the text box at the upper-left of the page. Once you type at least 3 letters, players with names matching what you've typed are listed. You can choose one of these players by clicking on his name. Alternatively, you can see players listed by team and position, and set a maximum price, by using the drop-downs below the large text box. Selecting a team, position, or price will give you a list of players matching your criteria. Clicking on any player suggested will add his name to the list. Remove players by clicking the x'es next to their names, or remove all players by clicking the big red x to the left of the box.

2. Select matches

To restrict the stats to only the matches you care about, you can choose options in the "Weeks", "Venue", and "Opponent" columns. Be careful -- if you are too restrictive, you won't see any stats at all!

Weeks

To restrict the data to a certain portion of the season, type which gameweeks you'd like the data to start and end into the boxes in the "weeks" column. If you'd like to see data from the entire season, simply don't type anything here, or click "select all".

Venue

You can choose to see data from only matches played at home, or away, by ticking the appropriate boxes. Not ticking either box, or ticking both boxes, will show data from both home and away matches. For bar charts, ticking both boxes will cause the graph to distinguish between home and away data, while ticking neither box will not.

Opponent

If you would like to see data only against certain opponents, tick the boxes next to the team in the league table. Not ticking any box will cause all opponents to be included, except for the "bar by opponent" graph, where at least one opponent must be actively chosen. (If you really want to see 19 sets of bars, you can tick "select all" at the top.)

If you've chosen a line graph, the line will simply pass through weeks where unselected opponents were played as if the player did not have a scheduled match that week. If a player never faced any of your selected opponents during the weeks you've chosen, or at the venue you've chosen, you will not see data for this player.

3. Select graph

There are 4 types of graphs available at Fantagraphy, to help you answer a variety of questions and make the best lineup decisions.

  1. Line chart -- Who has the better form? Who has been more consistent?
  2. Bar chart (cumulative) -- Can this defender keep clean sheets consistently, or does he rely too much on the odd goal or assist? Who is best at attracting bonus points?
  3. Bar chart by opponent -- Which player can stand up to tough opposition?
  4. Radar -- Same as the cumulative bar chart, but presented like the scouting reports in Football Manager.

4. Select stats

Once you choose the type of graph, you can then choose which stats you'd like to see. All stats collected by fantasy.premierleague.com are available.

Please note that the raw stats are graphed, rather than the number of fantasy points they are worth: for example, 2 goals will be plotted as "2", not 8 (points) for a forward and 12 for a defender. You may be given the latter option in a future release of Fantagraphy. Because Fantasy Points, Minutes, and BPS tend to have totals an order of magnitude higher than the rest of the stats, you cannot include them in the same graph as the other stats, as this would make the graph unreadable. You cannot include them at all in a radar chart, which requires selecting at least 3 stats.

If you choose the cumulative bar or radar charts, you can use the buttons in the last column to choose whether to see stat totals, averages per match played by the player, or averages per match scheduled (played by the player's team). The difference between the latter two is that frequently-benched, injured or suspended players will appear worse per match scheduled.
